My husband and I both have a military background, I was in the U.S. Army for five years and my husband has been in the U.S. Air Force for over 14 years. During this time we have moved houses six times in the past nine years and, up until the most recent move, we never had a place that we really felt was home. We would bring our hodge-podge furniture and trinkets we had collected over the years, throw them all together, and live with them. In our Florida house, we never unpacked pictures and didn’t decorate a single bit of the house because we knew we would move again soon. This led to the house feeling empty and more of a short-term rental than a home. We finally shifted our mentality, finances, and values to align with having the home we really wanted and when we moved to Texas we made sure to have the vision, finances, and motivation to create our dream home.
